Lehi, Utah – July 11, 2018 –
Young Living Essential Oils, the world leader in essential oils, will celebrate the first International Essential Oils Day (#IEOD) on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, to honor the benefits that essential oils provide to humanity. The day will also raise awareness about sustainability processes that are good for the planet, like Young Living’s Seed to Seal® program that protects the surrounding environment and ensures the highest quality standards for essential oil products. On this special day dedicated to these gifts from nature, Young Living asks everyone to plant a tree or other botanical, try a new essential oil, or share their favourite essential oil with a friend.
Young Living established International Essential Oils Day on the birthday of its founder, the late D. Gary Young, to pay tribute to the pioneer of the modern-day essential oils movement. To honor Gary’s passion of philanthropy and his purpose-driven spirit, Young Living will donate 5 percent of its global sales on July 11, 2018, up to $250,000, to the Young Living Academy in Ecuador, which was established by The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation. These funds will also help launch the University Sponsorship Program to help Young Living Academy graduates pay for university tuition and fees, transportation and other necessary expenses.
“As we continue to grow Young Living from the farms to the Foundation, we always ask ourselves what Gary would do,” said Jared Turner, president and chief operating officer of Young Living Essential Oils. “He started the Foundation at the Young Living Academy and it has been the heart, soul and inspiration for our members’ generosity. We’re dedicating the funds raised from the first International Essential Oils Day to the continuing education of the Young Living Academy graduates, who don’t have the means to attend a university.”
Through The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation, Young Living members and employees travel around the world to work hand-in-hand with local underserved communities to empower and improve circumstances. The Foundation was established in 2009 with the building of the Young Living Academy in Chongon, Ecuador, for the children of Young Living farm workers and others in the community. To date, 58 students have graduated from the Academy, boasting a 100 percent graduation rate in contrast to the local graduation average where less than 20 percent graduate from high school.
